Asking them for money

This year FREEDOM RIDE 2019 has been changed up a little. When last reviewed in the PSA #7 – HEROES AMONG US article in July we thought the ride would be kicking off just before noon on September 10th. But its been adjusted to fit the theme for the charity that we’ll be riding for, the Ray Pfiefer Foundation.

Some info on the ride:

Start time: 5:46a Wed September 11th (the time the first tower was hit)
End time: 11:29a Wed Sept 11th (343 minutes later)
Location: EOS Fitness 8125 W Sahara Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89117

Leanna ride

Raymond Pfeifer is one of the estimated 2,000 people that has died of cancer as a result of the exposure to toxic chemicals from the 9/11 terror attacks. When the first tower was hit, Ray went to his firehouse at Engine 40/Ladder 35, grabbed his gear, and spent the next eight months searching through the rubble at Ground Zero looking for bodies. All 11 members of his Manhattan firehouse who responded to the call were killed. In 2009, Ray was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer as a direct result of his work and passed away on May 28, 2017. The Ray Pfeifer Foundation was created in his honor to help cover the unreimbursed medical expenses for victims battling Ground Zero related ailments.
We are honored to ride in memory of this hero, and look forward to the impact our Vegas community can make for the nearly 10,000 people still battling cancer from their work at the World Trade Center.

343 firefighters died on 9/11 at ground zero. This Sept 11th, we will ride 343 minutes to honor those heroes. Bikes will be sold for $1 a minute, $343 for the entire ride. I’ve attached the link to donate directly to the Ray Pfeifer Foundation.

Our goal at You’re Ducking Right is to be able to sponsor 2 spin bikes for the entirety of the ride. One for myself, and one for the lovely Mrs. TopDucker.

Full disclosure, if we raise enough for the full ride, I will be there, fully participating for the duration of the ride, but there is ZERO chance of my being able to keep up with Leanna’s spin training. For those that don’t know her, she is a woman possessed. But I will be on the bike at my own pace for the duration if we meet that $686 goal, that is my pledge to y’all.

To help You’re Ducking Right reach our goal of $686, you can click this link: Help Us Help Others! Donate to the Ray Pfeifer Foundation here! (you’ll need to sign into facebook)

If you’re in Vegas and would like to join, for an hour, for 3 hours, or for the duration of the ride you can let me know or any questions, or you can please email leannamarchese@yahoo.com the ride organizer.

Thank you for your support. I’ve included information about The Ray Pfeifer Foundation below.

Your tax-deductible donation will help someone fighting cancer and other illnesses as a result of working at Ground Zero after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Please donate to support our first responders today!

Also, while you’ve got your credit card out, how about you consider brewing your own cup of joe tomorrow morning and skipping the Starbucks line, don’t worry your barista can live without you for a day, trust me. Take that $5 you just saved and put it towards another worthy cause, as on September 7th, Natalie Gross, her organization Heroes Homage, and High Fives Foundation will be taking a group of veterans out paddle boarding on Donner lake in Truckee, California (The Lake Tahoe area). This will be followed with a short yoga class taught by Tarin O’Donnell. Before the afternoon concludes with a breathing/yoga nidra session taught by Natalie.

The High Fives Foundation will be sponsoring dinner and swag for our elite warriors before a bonfire finishes off the night.

Proceeds raised by Natalie will to go flying the veterans to the area as well as accommodations for the evening.

You can find out about Natalie’s story, and why she does what she does in her own words on her fundraising page: H2O Heroes Fundraiser which is also where you can donate!

You may also remember her, and her brother’s story from In Honor of the Honorable or PSA #7 – HEROES AMONG US

Any little bit helps, $10 to The Freedom Ride, $10 to H2O Heroes. Any little bit is appreciated. We’ve only got about 2 weeks left in August, so don’t delay, go ahead, grab your wallet and pitch in!

  1. Jason, I have goose bumps right now- it’s pretty spectacular that there are still good people in the world like yourself.
Thanks for sharing my story my friend.
