Mayday! Mayday! Calling the Bullpen!

While the Bronx Bombers have seemingly signed every available closer or former closer to the point that I expect them to sign Sparky Lyle next week, Boston’s old towne team has watched Joe Kelly leave for greener ($$$) pastures in Beverly Hills, while all star closer Craig Kimbrell waits by the phone like a 14 year old boy with bad acne while the Red Sox claim they’re staying in to wash their hair. At this point news breaking that fictional former Boston heart throb Sam May Day Malone was signing would come as a welcome reprieve from a fairly mundane…

NBA TRADELINE FESTIVITIES

W Well, the first shoe dropped earlier this week when Anthony Davis decided he wanted to give up New Orleans for Lent. The second shoe dropped in the form of a Woj bomb when news broke on Thursday that the New York Knickerbockers basketball club was trading their lone star, the injured Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks. As the trade deadline is now just a week away (February 7th), we’ll be monitoring and discussing the various trades as they come down. So check back between now and the end of next week to review the comings and goings…

NBA TRADING AT ITS FINEST

The NBA trade season is revving up. The deadline for trades this year falls on February 7th, just a few days after the Superbowl, and 10 days before the NBA’s All Star game. We’ve already seen some big trades this fall. Jimmy Butler to Philly for Dario Saric and Robert Covington. Kelly Oubre to Phoenix for Trevor Ariza. Or George Hill to Milwaukee for John Henson and Matthew Dellavedova jump to mind. In past years it was a forgone conclusion that the Cavaliers and Warriors would meet in the finals (allright, maybe not forgone, I mean the conference finals each…

T.G.I.F. DUCKERS!!!

Welp, we did it. We reached Friday my friends. With that New Years holiday stuck in the middle it made for a long work week. Tough to get any sort of flow working with the herky jerky schedule, but that is all behind us now. Now I don’t know about you, but when I was a young duckling (never an ugly duckling) we used to look forward to the ABC Friday night primetime line up, aka, T.G.I.F. The glory days of the T.G.I.F. line up ran from 1988-2000. They’ve tried to reinvent it a few times since then with such…

BRACKET BUSTERS: NFL EDITION

The NFL’s second season is upon us. 20 teams are booking their tee times for this weekend, but another 12 still remain. Is this the year of upsets? Or are we going Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk?! Some teams started out hotter than fish grease, I’m looking at you Rams and Chiefs, and rode that early success to some first round byes. Others like the Colts and Eagles made some second half pushes to snag the last playoff spots. It wasn’t all Luck though, the Colts were 9-1 in their last 10 games after starting out 1-5. The return of the Mack…
